Unicorn Gojek Launches Digital Insurance Platform GoSure in Partnership with Insurtech Startup PasarPolis

Gojek, Indonesia’s first unicorn company and on-demand multi-service platform superapp, recently announced the launch of its digital insurance platform, GoSure, which is the combined effort of both Gojek and PasarPolis, a leading insurance technology startup based in Indonesia that is backed by three of the country’s major players: Gojek, travel booking unicorn Traveloka and e-commerce unicorn Tokopedia. GoSure, which was launched on Gojek’s Third Party Platform (3PP), is now officially available to users and will provide a wide range of insurance products to suit the different needs of its users. It is understood that the strategic partnership with insurtech startup PasarPolis has enabled the unicorn superapp to expand its range of insurance product offerings, hence the launch of its digital insurance service platform GoSure.

Initially, the insurance platform was available to only a small group of chosen participants as a beta version that rolled out last year, and the insurance product that it offers then is travel insurance. With the official debut of GoSure, the range of insurance products on offer now include not only the previously available travel insurance products, but also mobile device protection insurance and automotive vehicle insurance. One of the aims of GoSure is to make insurance product offerings more easily accessible to its local users, and is another reason why the unicorn company decided to partner with PasarPolis for this joint undertaking.

Gojek claimed that more than several thousand insurance policies were sold through its GoSure platform during its beta phase, which demonstrated that users were willing to buy insurance products if they are easily accessible for purchase. Elaborating further on the consumer demand, Sony Radhityo, who is Gojek’s head of third party platforms, said that the constructive engagement demonstrated by their users during the digital insurance platform’s beta phase, as well as the boom in transactions, clearly supported the idea that consumers and users consider ease of access as one of the major factors when it comes to purchasing insurance products. Therefore, the unicorn company will press on with its strategic partnership with PasarPolis to deliver more insurance product offerings that are easily accessible to the public, in addition to being able to address their needs and wants.

Cleosent Randing, chief executive officer of PasarPolis, said that the strategic partnership with Gojek is a golden opportunity for the insurtech startup to leverage on the unicorn superapp’s vast digital presence and expertise in technology to bring their product offerings to a wider audience via the GoSure platform, which will greatly benefit users and consumers as a whole, as well as bolstering the insurtech startup’s own position. Cleosent Randing also added that, moving forward, PasarPolis will look to introduce a wider variety of insurance services for users and consumers on the digital insurance platform.

The launch of GoSure by the unicorn superapp Gojek, which is a collaborative effort with insurtech startup PasarPolis, will ensure that a broad range of insurance product offerings and solutions can be easily accessed by the general public with just a few taps on the digital insurance platform. This is in line with Gojek’s own growth strategy, which is about delivering product offerings and services that offer great value to its users.
